And the Award Goes To….

AWSP President Jim Rudsit presents the 2012 President’s Award to Michaela Miller for her work on the Teacher & Principal Evaluation Pilots.

Our fantastic and hard-working project manager, Michaela Miller, has won the 2012 AWSP President’s Award, given each year to a person outside the association who has advocated on behalf of principals and the principalship in Washington state. In the organization’s press release, AWSP President Jim Rudsit said about our TPEP Project Manager (who also manages Washington’s National Board Certified Teacher program), “Michaela didn’t have an easy job. She had to get a whole host of different education organizations — some with competing interests — to work together for a common goal. We’ve come far since the original legislation and she’s the main reason.”

OSPI also sent out a press release recognizing Michaela’s accomplishment, with Superintendent Dorn saying, “Michaela is a dedicated leader doing highly effective work at OSPI. TPEP is a sensitive political topic, but she has the collaborative skills it takes to work with superintendents, principals and teachers to develop a system to help improve teacher quality that will benefit kids across the state.”
