Introduction and Context
The evaluation philosophy of the Othello School District is designed to improve the teaching and learning process. Our evaluation program encourages educators to develop professionally and challenges educators to be the best they can be and to align their talents and skills with the goals of our district. Evaluation and appraisal should be a cooperative venture.
Our evaluation process has the following goals:
- To ensure high-quality educators;
- To support educators in their own professional growth and development; and
- 3. To determine contract renewal when necessary.
The primary purpose of the Othello School District is to provide students with the best possible education.
Information to Know Before Reviewing Our Model
The Othello School District Model is reflective of valuable collaboration between teachers and administrators. The OSD Evaluation model encompasses mutual work outlining the definitions of quality teaching and learning and the impact it has on student achievement.
Currently, 35 teachers will be participating in the pilot this coming fall. By the fall, all the Pilot teachers and Principals will have participated in 15 hours of intensive training on the OSD Teacher and Principal Evaluation Models.
We anticipate of conducting the same training for all OSD staff in conjunction with start of school activities.
